Meet with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee

20 May 2022

Coal mine workers in Moranbah and surrounding areas will have the chance to meet with members of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee (CMSHAC) to discuss safety and health in the coal mining industry.

CMSHAC chair and Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health Kate du Preez said all coal mine workers were invited to attend the forum to meet with members of the advisory committee and to learn about upcoming projects, discuss coal mining competency requirements, and to get a sneak peek at the Reporting for Safety education and information campaign.CMSHAC industry forum invitation

“CMSHAC members will be on hand to answer questions about the work of the advisory committee and to provide details about some of the committee’s exciting upcoming projects,” Kate said.

“Members of CMSHAC represent coal mine workers, coal mine operators and the industry safety and health regulator—RSHQ—and provide professional advice to the Minister for Resources on safety and health in the coal mining industry.

“This is an exciting opportunity for CMSHAC members to get out of the meeting room and to meet directly with coal mine workers in regional areas to discuss their work and to explore the issues that affect safety and health in the industry.”

The industry forum will be held on 14 June 2022 at the Moranbah Community Centre.

There will be two sessions available:

  • Tuesday 14 June from 2-4 pm
  • Tuesday 14 June from 6-8 pm
